Episode 6 is the sixth episode of the third season of A Discovery of Witches. It is also the twenty-fourth episode overall in the series, and serves as the penultimate of the series overall.

Synopsis[]

After receiving Benjamin's message, Matthew leaves Sept-Tours to track him down. Diana asks for the help of Fernando and Sarah to get the Book of Life.

Plot[]

Things at Sept-Tours since the birth of the twins have been rocky, and Matthew leaves imminently to confront Benjamin once and for all. Meanwhile, Diana decides that it is time to finally return the missing pages with the Book of Life. Despite reluctance from others, Diana delegates tasks and leaves with Sarah and Fernando to the library. Diana copies her identification card to allow Sarah to gain access to the library.

Gerbert is hell bent on stopping Diana and all of those involved with Matthew's scion and rallies the vampires to his aid; Domenico and Baldwin are reluctantly forced into his mission too.

Fernando finds Gallowglass in Brighton moments away from getting a tattoo. Fernando pleads with Gallowglass to return and aid Diana in her search for the Book of Life — things will be dangerous for Diana. Gallowglass eventually does return and is welcomed into Diana's arms. Gallowglass and Fernando keep watch outside whilst Diana and Sarah head into the library.

Inside, they find it difficult to locate the book and when Diana asks for the book, the librarian tells her that the book is missing. Moments later with a little bit of magic, the book reveals itself to Diana and she is successfully able to retrieve it. Casting an illusion spell, Diana reunites the pages with the book, sending ripples of energy throughout the building. Diana places her hands onto the book and the entirety of its knowledge is sucked inside of her. Imbued with more magic than she ever thought possible, Diana begins talking about ancient powers known as the Bright Born. Sarah is eager to leave given the dangers they have uncovered by reuniting the pages with the book and the two leave the library.

Meanwhile in Venice, Gerbert's motives are questioned by Domenico, who is not too happy about his recent behaviour. Gerbert admits that he has been scheming for centuries, however, to topple the de Clermont legacy; Gerbert even admits to using and manipulating Benjamin into murdering Philippe.

Having found out about Gerbert's scheming, Domenico is put in a difficult decision between siding with Gerbert or upholding the Covenant. Domenico meets with Baldwin and tells him off the manipulating and Gerbert's actions. Domenico surprises himself when he tells Baldwin that he doesn't want a reward or anything in exchange for the information.

Matthew arrives at the hospital where his father was murdered to confront Benjamin. It is eerily silent but Matthew is aware that Benjamin is lurking nearby waiting to pounce. Eventually, Benjamin reveals himself and a fight ensues between the two. Matthew is able to get the upper hand due to his age and strength but Matthew is bested when Satu arrives and incapacitates him. Satu remarks that Benjamin can have Matthew but she will deal with Diana personally.

Diana and the others arrive at the extraction point to find Peter Knox waiting for them. He demands the Book of Life but Sarah has other ideas and begins to cast a spell. This is made worse when he begins to talk down to Sarah about Emily and her weakness. Knox laughs at Sarah and remarks that she is not powerful enough to best him, but with a little help from Diana, the two are able to shatter him out of existence.

Returning to Sept-Tours, Diana and the others are greeted by a video message from Benjamin in which he shows a weakened — but still alive — Matthew. This presents itself as a lure to bring Diana in.
